Therapeutic massage involves the manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body in order to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress. At Kneaded Touch, we use mainly Swedish Massage techniques which deal with the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, including skin, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia. It is most often performed with oil or lotion. Techniques include effleurage (light long strokes), petrissage (circular manipulation), tapotement (percussive techniques), rocking and vibration techniques.


Deep Tissue Massage Therapy

Therapeutic massage using some techniques designed to get to the deeper layers of muscles.


Prenatal Massage Therapy

Pregnancy massage is offered to pre-, peri- or postnatal mothers. It addresses the specific needs of pregnant women such as discomfort in the lower back, feet, and legs.

CranioSacral and Myofascial release treatments for children from newborn to 16 years old are included in this category. Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a treatment that can be applied to infants who’ve experienced head trauma and injuries. Meaghan is a Registered Massage Therapist who graduated from Sutherland-Chan School and Teaching Clinic. During her studies she had the opportunity to take part in specialty clinics including one at Sunnybrook Hospital; working with prenatal and postpartum patients of the High Risk Obstetrics Unit. As well as, one at Toronto General Hospital; working with pre and post-op patients of the Thoracic Surgery Unit. Meaghan also has clinical experience in Swedish massage, sports massage, DNM, and myofasical release. Meaghan has a B.Sc. in Integrated Science with a concentration in Health Science from Carleton University. She is also certified in CPR-C, Standard First Aid, and Automatic Defibrillation. She is a member of both the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario (CMTO) and the Registered Massage Therapist Association of Ontario (RMTAO). Stephanie graduated from the Algonquin College Massage Therapy Program and has been registered since 2004. She finds that being a Reiki practitioner as well as an RMT brings a quiet energy to her treatments to help facilitate relaxation (for the client too!). She believes that people need to be more open to listening to their intuition not only in their daily life but also within their own body. The time during your treatment can be a great place to start!

Stephanie has taken extra training for Prenatal Massage but also feels that infants and children should be given the opportunity to benefit from massage as well as adults. As an Infant Massage Instructor, she is available to teach parents/caregivers the techniques and benefits of infant massage. Stephanie has also completed CranioSacral Therapy levels I & II, SomatoEmotional Release levels I & II, CranioSacral for Pediatrics level I & II, CranioSacral Therapy for Conception, Pregnancy and Birthing, The Brain Speaks levels I & II, and CranioSacral Therapy & the Immune Response, all through the Upledger Institute. Additional courses include Visceral Manipulation I (Abdomen I) (Barral Institute), Pediatric Myofascial Release (Barnes), and Rhythmic Movement Training and Reflex Integration level I & II.

Kim graduated from Algonquin College in 2004, with an honors diploma in massage therapy. Prior to this Kim completed her Honors B.Sc in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario. Since her graduation, she has had the opportunity to practice in Canada and overseas in both a physiotherapy and group massage environment. Kim has been a member of the part-time faculty at Algonquin College since 2006, where she has had the opportunity to impart her knowledge and love of massage to the students in the public clinics. Kim works with her clients to develop a treatment plan based on the client’s goals using a variety of techniques including Swedish massage, lymphatic drainage, myofascial release, stretching, and pregnancy massage for expecting moms. Born and raised in Ottawa, Jasmine is a graduate of Algonquin College’s Massage Therapy (Intensive) program. She is a member of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) and the Registered Massage Therapy Association of Ontario (RMTAO). Jasmine completed a Bachelor’s of Science (Honours) in Human Kinetics with a Minor in Music at the University of Ottawa. She became a Certified Exercise Physiologist with the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP) in 2012 and remains an active member, as well as an Exercise is Medicine® Canada (EIMC) Recognized Exercise Professional Level 2.

Jasmine has experience working with clients who have a wide-range of conditions; such as scars, chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions, stress/anxiety, and trigger points. Meet Carly

Carly is a Registered Massage Therapist with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, (CMTO) A member of the RMTAO and graduate from the Massage Therapy program at Algonquin College.

Carly has been working as an RMT for 15 years, in this time she has found that massage therapy can encourage her clients to become more in tune and aware of their bodies’ health and needs.

Carly focuses on providing a unique experience for her clients. This is accomplished with focused interviewing and assessments, and working with the client to establish tangible goals and create flexible treatment plans as needed. Carly also encourages clients to follow home care (strengthening, stability, stretching) exercises to further aid in clients goals.

Olivia is from Thunder Bay, Ontario and moved to Ottawa to begin her schooling in Massage Therapy at Algonquin College. She has had the opportunity of hands-on experience in the student clinic, as well as outreach. She has worked with athletes, children with disabilities, prenatal clients and a variety of clients in water massage. Olivia took an interest in prenatal massage during her final year of school and intends to pursue completing additional courses in prenatal massage. She also plans on taking courses in craniosacral therapy, muscle taping, as well as doula training. Olivia looks forward to continuous learning throughout her career and intends to cater to the goals of her clients; whether it’s relaxation or for an injury.
